I believe everyone has the ability to learn. I also believe that everyone has an innate yearning to learn. This is why I love the education process, especially tutoring, because I get to witness the "Aha Moment" when learning takes place.

Substitute Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Tutor – 5th Grade Mathematics and Science
Tutored individual students and small groups of students, co-taught and taught activities and lessons, and substitute taught throughout the school. Aided in lesson planning and instructional decisions, while monitoring student growth, through observation and analyzing student assessments. Formed cooperative and supportive relationships with faculty members, students, and the students’ guardians in order to promote student growth. Worked with students throughout the JetToy Engineering Unit and attended the JetToy Competition at Cobo Hall, Detroit.

Planned and taught engaging lessons which aligned with Common Core Standards. The lessons used activities to develop rigorous and original thought processes to construct mathematical reasoning through student exploration. Used effective differentiation strategies to ensure student growth, and promoted confidence, in students who struggled with a variety of learning, emotional, and developmental disabilities.

HobbiesIn my spare time I like to spend time with family and friends. My family is quite large. I have SIX older brothers! That's right, I was the youngest and only girl. Our family tree has more than made up for the lack of girls, however. I have six nephews and eleven nieces.
My hobbies include: Reading a good novel, taking walks, drawing, writing Slam Poetry, playing my trombone, listening to any type of music, and watching movies.
